Making posts on a forum can be tricky and confusing, so here is a tutorial on how it works! If you have any questions, feel free to PM Lyssarie.
Making Replies
1. When you want to reply to something that has been said in a topic, you have two options:
a) Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will find a white text box. Type your reply in the text box, and hit 'Send'.
b) Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you will see a 'New Reply' option. Click this, and it will take you to a new screen with a white text box for you to type in. Type your response and hit 'Send'.
Do not click 'New Thread'. This will create an entirely new topic, not a reply.
Basic Buttons
1. At the top of each white text box, you will see a series of buttons. A lot of these are buttons you should know, such as Bold, Italicize, Underline,Strike, the alignment buttons (center, left, right, etc.), the bullet point button, and the list button. To use any of these text buttons, simply click on them, like you would in a normal Microsoft Word document.
Extra Buttons
1. Insert a line break button - this button can be used to separate your text. Click below for an example:
2. Quote button - this button can be used to quote what someone else has said. This button is useful when you are replying to a specific person, and would like to specify who you are talking to. Here is an example:
3. Code button - you won't need this button very often, but if you are wanting to create a code for a specific outline, this is the button you would use.
4. Spoiler button - this button can be used to hide your text, images, etc. so that only those who choose to see it can see it. This button is necessary if you are talking about anything that might "spoil" someone, or if you are posting an excess of images. Here is an example:
5. Hidden button - I honestly have no idea what the purpose of this button is.
6. Insert table - just like in Microsoft Word or any program you've probably used before: if you want to insert a table, this is the button to do it.
7. Host an image button - the way this site works, to post an image, it must be hosted first. That means it must have a url on the internet. You can host your images using websites like imgur.com, photobucket.com, etc., or you can use this button.
8. Insert image button - this button will allow you to paste an image url from another website and post that image here.
9. Insert a link button - this is pretty self-explanatory. If you want to insert a link to another page or website, this is the button to do it.
10. Insert a Youtube video button and Insert a Dailymotion video button - Pretty self-explanatory.
11. Flash button - I don't know what this does, so I would advise not using it.
12. Header format button - This button can be used to change the style of your text at the beginning of a topic. Here is an example:
13. Font size, Color, and Font buttons - just like on any other text program, these change the style of your text.
14. Remove Text Formatting button - pretty self-explanatory.
15. More/Less buttons button - This will expand or contract the amount of buttons you have available to use when you are typing a response.
16. Index and Exponent buttons - These buttons will do exactly what their icons describe: add an index or exponent to whatever you're typing.
17. Horizontal and Vertical scrolling buttons - these will make your text scroll across the page. Here are some examples:
18. Random button - I have no idea what this does.
19. Current date and Current time buttons - You can insert the date and time with these buttons.
20. Insert unformatted text button - don't worry about this one, you probably won't need it.
21. Switch Editor Mode button - When this button is highlighted, that means you are able to see all of the code behind your posts. This can be confusing for those who don't understand code, so I would suggest that you make sure this button is off.
